Hyundai Bayon Launched at Rs 9.99 Lakh With AI Assistant, Level 2 ADAS
Hyundai Motor India has launched the Bayon at Rs 9.99 lakh, featuring a 115 PS petrol engine, generative AI voice assistant, dual 12.3-inch screens and Level 2 Pro ADAS, with its Bharat NCAP safety rating expected by December 2026.
Measuring 4,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height, including roof rails, the Bayon has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a claimed unladen ground clearance of 205 mm. Its combination of technology, comfort and safety equipment forms a key part of the new model’s offering.
The Hyundai Bayon is powered by a 1,497cc, four-cylinder MPi naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT).
The iVT variant comes with Dash Boost Mode, which Hyundai says improves responsiveness during overtaking, along with Sporty Drive Tech for acceleration response. Driving features include Eco, Normal and Sport modes, a steering-mounted drive mode button and paddle shifters. Idle Stop & Go is also included.
Hyundai has confirmed that the CNG version of the Bayon will launch in January 2027.
The SUV uses McPherson struts at the front and a coupled torsion beam axle at the rear. Front disc brakes are standard, while rear drum or disc brakes are available depending on the trim.
A major technology highlight is Hyundai Motor India’s first in-built generative AI voice assistant, which combines Perplexity’s intelligence with SoundHound AI’s voice technology. The system supports natural-language queries related to travel, weather, restaurants, news and sports. The generative AI assistant currently operates in English.
The available Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) features two 12.3-inch displays arranged in a curved panoramic layout. Its navigation system uses NVIDIA technology.
Connectivity features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, more than 70 Bluelink functions and over-the-air updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. Hyundai has also listed more than 500 embedded voice commands, a Bose sound system and a three-year complimentary Bluelink subscription.
On the safety front, Hyundai offers more than 35 features as standard, including six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a rollover sensor and tyre-pressure monitoring.
The available Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS package brings 23 driver assistance features, including Highway Driving Assist and navigation-based cruise control functions. These navigation-linked functions operate on designated expressways covered by the system’s map data. A surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor are also available.
Hyundai describes the Bayon as engineered for five-star Indian safety standards based on its internal assessment. However, the SUV is currently undergoing crash testing by Bharat NCAP, with its safety rating expected to be announced by December 2026.
The Bayon’s comfort and convenience equipment includes ventilated front seats, an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, reclining rear seats, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a panoramic sunroof. Wireless phone charging, USB-C ports and 60:40 split rear seats add to its practicality.
The SUV offers a boot capacity of 505 litres, measured using the V215 method with a tyre mobility kit.
Hyundai will offer the Bayon in seven variants: HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. The iVT transmission is listed for the HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10 variants. A complete variant-wise price list has not yet been revealed.
The model will be available in 10 exterior finishes, comprising six monotone colours, two dual-tone combinations and two matte options. Equipment availability varies by variant.
Exterior features include H-Edge LED daytime running lights and tail lamps, dual LED projector headlamps, roof rails and available 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Inside, the SUV features a black-and-olive-grey theme, with leatherette upholstery and ambient lighting available.
With its introductory price, multiple transmission options, connected features and Level 2 Pro ADAS package, the Hyundai Bayon expands the company’s SUV lineup in India. Its Bharat NCAP crash-test rating, expected by December 2026, remains a key upcoming development for buyers evaluating its safety credentials.
